We built CoreCaption with a strong commitment to your privacy. This policy explains how the app handles your data — in plain language.

No Data Collection

CoreCaption does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal information. We have no servers that receive your data. We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking libraries of any kind.

On-Device Processing

All transcription is performed entirely on your iPhone using Apple's built-in speech recognition framework (SFSpeechRecognizer). Your audio and video files never leave your device. The Neural Engine processes everything locally.

Cloud Sync

If you choose to enable iCloud Sync, your project transcripts and metadata are stored in your private iCloud container via Apple's CloudKit. Only you can access this data — CoreCaption and its developers have no visibility into it whatsoever. You can disable iCloud Sync at any time in Settings.

Microphone & Speech Permissions

iOS requires microphone and speech recognition permissions for the SFSpeechRecognizer API to function, even when transcribing pre-recorded video files. CoreCaption does not record your microphone live, and does not transmit any audio data externally. You may revoke these permissions in iOS Settings → CoreCaption at any time, though doing so will disable transcription.

Photo Library Access

CoreCaption requests access to your photo library solely to let you select video files for transcription. We do not browse, index, upload, or retain any photos or videos beyond the duration of a single transcription session.

Payments

All in-app purchases (subscriptions and credit packs) are handled exclusively by Apple's App Store payment system. CoreCaption never sees, stores, or processes your payment information. For purchase history or refunds, please visit reportaproblem.apple.com.

No Account Required

CoreCaption does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in with any service. The app is fully functional without any form of user registration.Contact information:

Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in an updated 'Last updated' date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, communicated through an in-app notice. Continued use of CoreCaption after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
